A modern, well insulated house is airtight, which is good for the heating bill and bad for the air. Cooking, showers, laundry and people all put moisture and stale air into the house, and without ventilation it ends up as condensation, mould and stuffy rooms. Opening windows fixes the air and throws the heat out.
MVHR solves both. A central unit pulls stale, damp air out of kitchens and bathrooms through ducting, passes it through a heat exchanger, and uses that heat to warm the filtered fresh air it supplies to bedrooms and living rooms. Manufacturers rate the heat recovery at around 90%, so the house is ventilated all day at a small fraction of the heating cost of open windows.
We fit Brink and Viessmann units and design the duct runs to suit the house. It pairs well with a heat pump: a tight house with controlled ventilation needs a smaller heat pump and runs it at a lower temperature.
MVHR - mechanical ventilation heat recovery by Lotus Energy
Contact Lotus Energy for MVHR, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. MVHR continuously extracts stale air from kitchens and bathrooms, recovers the heat from it, and supplies filtered fresh air to living rooms and bedrooms. It suits airtight homes, new builds and deep retrofits, where opening windows wastes the heat you have paid for. We design and install Brink and Viessmann MVHR systems in and around Guildford.
