Most boiler manufacturers recommend that you get your boiler serviced once a year. We recommend having it done in the summer so the boiler is ready before the heating comes on.
A service checks the boiler is burning cleanly, the flue is sound, the pressure and controls are right, and the system is safe. Manufacturers require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep the warranty valid, and a missing service history can count against you on a home insurance claim after a leak or a flood.
If you let the property, the landlord gas safety check required every 12 months under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 can be done at the same visit.
